You Can't Cut Off Congressional Pay During This Shutdown

I understand that people think it's a way to motivate Congress to resolve the shutdown faster, but this petition and this legislation won't work--at least it won't work to resolve the current shutdown. The Twenty-Seventh Amendment forbids any changes in compensation to the members of the House and Senate from going into effect until after the next congressional election.

So the best anyone can do right now is pass a law that says that Congress Critters don't get paid in any government shutdown that takes place after November 2014. Which might be a good idea, but it won't do anything to help today's mess.
