Tesla Motors is giving away all of its patents.
Which actually makes some sense. The all-electric vehicle company is only going to survive in the long term if there is a charging station infrastructure throughout the country. Tesla's own network of high-speed charging stations is impressive for a single company's efforts, but it's also not good enough when you consider that gas stations are everywhere. The only way for the charging station infrastructure to grow is if there are enough plug-in cars on the road to make it worthwhile for energy companies to make more charging stations.
Tesla's reference to a 13 year old internet meme (one of the first!) is also amusing. Do the kind of people who read corporate blog posts get that stuff?
