People have been characterizing Netanyahu's comments about the Holocaust as defending Hitler, but really the one he is most letting off the hook is Heinrich Himmler, the so-called "architect of the final solution."
Personally, I find the whole thing to be totally bizarre. I never imagined that an Israeli Prime Minister would engage in holocaust historic revisionism. Plus, what were the point of his comments? Even if we were to assume that the guy who served as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem in the 1940s was entirely responsible for the holocaust, is he saying that justifies different treatment of Palestinians today? Are all Jews responsible for the decisions of some shitty leader they might have had 70 years ago? Even if Bibi were right, the comments only make sense if they are couched in a deep sea of tribalism and bigotry.
