I think this is the first time that a country that NATO once bombed joined NATO.
Actually the 68 year old NATO hasn't bombed as many countries as one would expect from recent history. Even though the organization is a relic of the cold war, it didn't start bombing countries until the cold war ended. Actually, the recent bomb-happy history of the organization is due to the powers-that-be's efforts to find a way to keep NATO relevant now that its original raison d'etre is gone. When everyone knew what NATO was for, the organization didn't have to kill people to prove that it is still necessary.
