CoiffeurGate

Why does the amount that politicians pay for a haircut always become a political issue? Aside from Mr. Holland, this happened with Clinton, Edwards, and Palin. Maybe there are others that I can't remember. (Trump's hairgate is out there but hasn't caught on yet) I don't just ask why in the who-gives-a-shit sense of the question. Why is the focus always on hair?

These are all rich people. Their suits probably cost more than my car. I'm sure if we priced out all the luxury items the members of the political class own or use, a lot of stuff would seem obscenely expensive to regular folks, or, more importantly, to political reporters who imagine what regular folks  might think. Of all of those luxuries, why is hair always the scandal and not everything else?

And also who gives a shit?
