The blockade and retiring justices

Putting aside the Garland nomination, if the Republicans do blockade all Supreme Court nominations during Clinton's presidency, what will that do to Supreme Court retirements? Liberal justices tend to try to time their retirement for when Democrats hold the presidency, and conservative justices generally time their retirement for when Republicans hold the presidency. If the Republicans promise to not confirm any new justice, will that mean that liberal justices won't retire?

I guess it could go the other way too. If Clinton ends up with a Senate majority when she is initially elected, that majority is only guaranteed to hold for the first two years of her presidency (before the 2018 midterms). So will this blockade talk lead to a rush of liberal Supreme Court retirements? Could all this crazy blockade talk get Clinton more appointments to the Supreme Court?
