I guess we are going back to an era when the only real social spending will be budgeted through the military. The military funds, for example, scientific research, so that will be where academics go for their grants after the NSF and NIH are eviscerated. (tough luck, professors at Quaker schools that do not accept DOD grants).
When Trump does blow my tax dollars to buy a bunch of new shiny weapons, I can only wonder if that will prompt some regret in his Russian patrons. The Russians do not like the fact that the U.S.'s military towers over all others, so maybe this is another instance of Russia not quite understanding all the ramifications of where they threw their support in the presidential election.
