Allowing the deportation of green card holders is going to further accelerate their rush to get citizenship, and thus create more anti-Trump voters.
(Aside: I don't think Trump can make that change by executive order. EOs fill in the gaps left by statutes. Green card/permanent residency grants a statutory right to remain in the U.S. indefinitely. There's no gap there to fill. Trump would need to get Congress to pass an amendment to make that change. At least that's my understanding from a guy whose last immigration law class was 22 years ago)
