I do not understand why getting down on one knee during a musical performance of the national anthem preceding a sportsball competition has anything to do with the military. I keep seeing people on social media claiming it is somehow disrespectful to the military to "take a knee", but where does the military come into it? I thought the national anthem is about the whole country, not just the military.
The insertion of the military into the discussion just seems like a huge effort to change the subject. It doesn't make any sense. I don't understand why more people aren't questioning the relevance of the military to the discussion.
