How could Reagan demand that Gorbachev tear down the Berlin Wall when the roof of his own house wasn't held up by columns?!?!?!?!

Trump was wrong about the Obamas having a wall, but even if he had been right, this is one of the stupidest pro-wall arguments there is.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is a bad idea. It's crazy expensive. It is unlikely to work (most undocumented do not enter from the Southern border and even the most idealized version of a wall will have some way to get around it). Undocumented crossings does not have a major impact on the U.S. or its economy, etc. But none of those reasons to oppose Trump's wall on the Mexican border is that "all walls are bad."

Obviously, walls are good for some things. I might oppose Trump's wall, but I like having walls on my house. That's not hypocritical because being opposed to one particular wall proposal does not mean I am universally anti-wall. No one is universally anti-wall. Pointing out that opponents of Trump's wall have walls somewhere else is completely idiotic.
