Not gonna happen

The fact that Mike Pence has been implicated in UkraineGate (or Moron-Contra, or whatever we call this scandal) makes it less likely that GOPers are going to march over to the White House and ask Trump to resign.

Yeah, I realize that is how the Nixon presidency ended when he was facing impeachment but there is an important difference between then and now. In 1974, Ford was perceived to be clean as he joined the administration after the Watergate break-in.  When Republicans decided to ask Nixon to resign they expected the resignation to end the impeachment inquiry to staunch the damage being done to their party. In this case, Pence is not perceived to be clean and today's testimony establishes that  virtually everyone high up in the Trump Administration was in on the scheme to bribe and extort Ukraine. If Trump resigns, that will not be the end of the inquiry. The Republicans won't be able to move on and they would be left with a new President tainted by a scandal that was so bad it caused the resignation of his predecessor.
