The Chinese-Saudi summit1 is being touted as a sign of waning American influence. But look at the sign in the photo. At some point U.S. power and influence really will wane. And you will know it when the backdrop between a big Chinese-Saudi summit is in Chinese or Arabic. Neither of those language even appear on the backdrop from this week's summit.

1- I know it is officially called the "Arab China Business Summit" but as far as I can tell from the reports, Saudi Arabia appears to be the Arab country taking active part in the talks. I'm not going to fall into Saudi propaganda that they somehow speak for the entire Arab world.
