i move the previous question

i realize i haven't written much of substance in the past couple of days. but don't expect much from this post either.

last friday i installed that check box you now see at the top of the page. in the comments to the post where i announced the coming of the check box, steve bates indicated that he would rather have the check box checked by default (i.e. set to open in a new window unless you tell it not to) instead of unchecked (i.e. won't open in a new page unless you tell it to) as it is now.

in our subsequent email, steve told me how to alter the code to make a checked box the default. but since this is really for the other people who read my page and not for me, i'm not sure which way i should set the default setting.

so i'm calling for a vote. let me know in the comments whether you'd rather have windows open in a separate window or not as the default setting here.

just so you know, whichever way the default is set will be "sticky." that is, it won't remember whether you like the box checked or unchecked between visits. so if the default is checked and you prefer unchecked, you're gonna have to uncheck at the top of the page each time you drop by.

UPDATE: i guess i should add that if no one votes i'm just gonna leave it as is. as usual, laziness holds the tie-breaking vote. think of it as the dick cheney of the noz mind
