al-qaeda in iraq's best P.R. man

why is the president still carrying water for al qaeda in mesopotamia? i mean, the group used to be called "tawhid wa al-jihad" and no one paid any attention to them. so in october 2004 they changed their name to "al qaeda in mesopotamia" (also called "al-qaeda in iraq") and made a big deal of swearing allegiance to bin laden. they did it to get attention, and to get some of the credit and notoriety that being part of the al-qaeda franchise could bring.

so what does the president do? he keeps citing al qaeda in mesopotamia's actions and calls them the actions of al qaeda, giving the impression that they are the same group that attacked the u.s. on september 11th. thus, he gives the iraq group attention as well as the credit and notoriety of bin laden's group. which is exactly what zarqawi wanted to happen when he changed the name and swore allegiance in 2004.

the president is, quite literally, aiding the propaganda campaign of a terrorist organization. thanks again george!
