If John Boehner were smart, he would quietly allow this to happen. It gives him an out, something he doesn't otherwise have. The House leadership shut down the government without an exit strategy and now they don't know how to get out of it.
This is how they can do it: Boehner could give quiet reassurances to non-tea party republicans who live in safe districts that he won't penalize them for signing on to the Democrat's discharge petition. He can also quietly help Pelosi identify Republican reps who are in a safe enough position to sign on.
Then he can scream bloody murder when Pelosi files the petition. He can bang his gavel and punch the wall and cry on C-Span. He can make a big show of how pissed off he is at those dastardly Democrats, who ruined the shutdown before it had a chance to work. When a clean CR passes the House with all the Democrats and a handful of Republicans, he can scream to the cameras: "We would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for that meddling Pelosi!"
And then the crisis would end. Boehner could get on with his life and maybe even retain his speakership, at least until October 17th
