Unintended consequence of a Trump presidency

A rise in college tuition.

How will that work? U.S. colleges and universities don't give financial aid to foreign students. Unlike most American students, foreign students pay the full ticket price (sometimes with the help of their government). One of the reasons that U.S. colleges and universities work so hard to recruit foreign students is because they get more money for those students. If foreign students start avoiding U.S. institutions, those institutions will have to make up the shortfall. And they will probably do that by raising tuition.

I expect the Trump presidency, especially its (both perceived and real) hostility to foreigners, is going to have all kinds of unintended consequences.
