I understand why countries grant political asylum if they are committed to the human rights principles behind asylum. But Hungary under Orban is not one of those countries. A central tenet of his administration is to stop asylum seekers from settling in Hungary. So why is Hungary granting asylum to the former Macedonian prime minister fleeing criminal charges for corruption? What's in it for Orban? There must be something. Otherwise, this would not be happening.
