One thing about Trump's response to the current crisis in Venezuela: For this issue Trump seems to be on the same side as America's traditional allies.
I'm chalking up Trump's decision to not back the Russian-allied strong man in this case to two things: (1) the fairly deep Republican hostility towards Chavez/Maduro, and (2) Fox News' use of Venezuela as the standard bearer for "socialism" which it uses to demonize any even vaguely leftish domestic policy proposal in the U.S.
