I realize none of this matters because all of this is just a prelude to the pardon, but if Trump wants Roger Stone to get a lighter sentence (and he must, because otherwise why would he bother to get Barr to get the Justice Department to change their recommendation to a lighter sentence), why would he attack the Judge before she rules on sentencing?
The DOJ's recommendation is just that, a recommendation. The original recommendation was 7-9 years, but now they are revising it to something lighter. But the Judge doesn't have to follow the recommendation. She could still go with 9.
Judge's are supposed to blindly follow the law, not lash out at people who criticize them. But they are still human and no judge wants to look like she was brow-beaten into going easy on someone who was convicted. Even if a Judge is terrible, you don't criticize him/her before a critical ruling. That's just dumb.
