For the past week or so I have been saying that while I was excited about election day, the two months that follow that will suck. I expected the Republicans to lose big yesterday, and it ended up being bigger than I ever expected. But I also expected that Trump would engage in increasingly desperate and dangerous tactics to undermine or stop the Democratic victory between now and early January. I still expect that to happen. And it could be really bad.
So while I am celebrating today, I am worried that the next two months could be the worst part of the Trump second term. Like another January 6th, but with Trump less constrained and with MAGA more in control of the levers of the federal government than it was in January 2021.
