the party of fear, the party without spine and the national surveillance state
i wonder if the FISA amendment bill got less critical attention online because so many of the left blogistanis were in chicago and thus paying less attention. which is kind of ironic. i mean, YK is a gathering of all these political bloggers going to panels about how to be effective to bring about progressive change. meanwhile, while they're listening to some speaker, a major power grab happens in washington with virtually no resistance.
not that i think it would matter if this vote came at a different time. the power of bloggers is often overstated. it did nothing to stop the military commissions act of 2006, even though that was a far worse bill than the dreadful FISA amendment that passed yesterday.
