Personally I've always thought that the "beneath the dignity of the Presidency" argument was stupid. Why can't Presidents do silly shit? Dignity comes with the office. It's only the really insecure people who need to pretend they are some highfalutin muckity-mucks. And there's absolutely no reason to pretend when you're the President of the United States. It doesn't get any more muckity-muck than that.
