This is just a reminder that the Trump administration is going to be a full-on dumpster fire of incompetence and in-fighting. Mattis is one of the few Cabinet appointees who can actually be called qualified for the job (that is, if you get past the fact that he is legally disqualified from the post, although everyone expects that this Congress will give him a waiver). And yet, the Trump team won't let him use his unfettered judgment about the qualifications of people he wants to hire for the Defense Department because the Trumpians can't tolerate giving a job to anyone who ever opposed their guy.
It's the same deal with America's diplomats. Who gives a shit about their personal lives, or continuity of American relations with foreign countries, if they were one of Obama's diplomat, they must be purged without delay.
