I know that everyone and their mom has commented on the "lodestar" editorial already. But the thing that jumps out at me is the weird idea that following the process set forth in the Constitution would cause a "constitutional crisis" but people within the executive branch blatantly undermining and refusing to follow the orders of the Chief Executive is somehow okay.
Look, I'm glad they are undermining this particular president. Trump is such a danger it is justified. But there is also no question that following the correct legal procedures for dealing with this danger would be much much better. This sets a terrible precedent that threatens out rule of law and political system a lot more than using the 25th Amendment would. I think the author is confusing a constitutional crisis with a political crisis within his own political party. Frankly, if the author weren't such a party hack and spineless opportunist, s/he would see a crisis within a single party is much much better.
ADDING: This is essentially what I was trying to say:
Except that Pence was elected.

It is literally the only thing worse than having Trump as president.
Except that Pence was elected.
