I've seen people cackle with glee on social media about Trump's lawsuit against Facebook and Twitter for banning him for his support of the insurrection because it opens him up to discovery about what he did on and leading up to January 6th. While discovery would be fun (how awesome would this deposition be? Trump is the nightmare client for testimony preparation), Trump's lawsuit is too shoddy and contrary to precedent to get that far. It is going to be tossed out on a Motion to Dismiss, which means it will never reach the discovery phase.
I'm sure the dismissal will be met with howling cries of unfairness by team-Trump, plus a bunch of doomed appeals. Maybe the lawyers involved will end up losing their license or being sanctioned, and if that happens Trump will immediately cast them overboard. But Trump will probably be able to use the doomed lawsuit to fundraise. In the end, that is all this really is about.
