Why was Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly even asked to testify about the effectiveness of masks in preventing spread of COVID on airlines? He is not an expert on virology, or the effectiveness of masks. He's a businessman with a crystal clear financial incentive to remove the federal airline mask mandate.
The fact that he tested positive for COVID shortly after giving his mask-less anti-mask testimony is getting all the headlines. And I get the appeal. Ha ha, what a fucking asshole, that sure showed him!* But the real question is why he was testifying in the first place. Why would anyone think that a corporate guy would know anything about the medical consequences of transportation policies?
