Prez Naz bowed to public pressure and adopted a much more sensible Latin alphabet for the language. Essentially the new Kazakh alphabet will be the one pushed for in this video I posted last month (with a few small modifications, like using "sh" instead of "ś").
Word was that the apostrophe-laden version was Nazarbayev's personal preference for the new Latin alphabet, but it was almost universally panned by the Kazakh intelligentsia (not to mention that Kazakhs I know). It is interesting that he responded to the pressure, even in the autocratic society he has built.
